Netflix success!

I love Netflix. I saw Sideways this weekend. It was good, very poetic at times, very crude at times, very depressing at times. Sent that back and got Garden State. It was so good. Zach Braff was great, I think he is really talented. Natalie Portman was incredible too. She was so goofy at the beginning of the movie, but her performance turned into alternatingly funny and serious. Best movie I've seen in a long time.

Softball Game 3

I missed game 2 last week because I was out of town on business. Tonight was game 3. I hit for crap. I was 0-3 going into the bottom of the 7th, down by 3 runs. We had gotten 3 in, and 2 runners on with one out when I came up. I was determined not to fuck up. I took two balls for a 3-1 count. I took a strike, and took another ball, drawing the walk. The next guy hit a comebacker to the pitcher, who threw it over the second baseman's head as I slid in. We won with a walk off error. Pretty standard for our team.

Catching up, again

It's been another long period between posts. I think I got discouraged because there's no way for my parents to read this blog. The Chinese government blocks some websites, and blogspot is one of those. It's disappointing, because a large reason I started the blog was to communicate with my parents. I may end up getting some cheap hosting and moving the blog to my own space. We'll see.

I've spent this entire week in Peoria, working hard with the client. It will be nice to get home on Friday, though the 4-hour drive will not be fun.

I recently joined NetFlix, which I'm pretty excited about. I currently have about 90 movies in my queue, which will take quite a while to work through. My first movie, Sideways, is awaiting my arrival at home. The wife has already received her first movie, Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason, which she apparantly liked. Last weekend, we rented our last Blockbuster movie. We got Closer, with Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, and Jude Law. It was an interesting movie. I definitely thought Natalie Portman was good in it (though that may have something to do with my total infatuation with her). I don't know that I can recommend it to people, as I know not everyone I know shares my like for artistic movies.

WTF is Elegor?

So... is Elegor my real name? Obviously not. Elegor is my avatar on the online games I play. So far, Elegor has been a level 150 Terran Tradesman, a level 43 Red Mage, and a level 60 Rogue (Earth and Beyond, Final Fantasy XI, and World of Warcraft, respectively).

So where does Elegor come from? Well, I'm a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. When I rolled my TT in EnB, I needed a name. So I went to a Buffy fan site (BuffyGuide.com) and started looking through episode guides. I found a demon named Elegor from episode 2.10 who is a fictional demon or god described as "black master of decay," and "bringer of war, poisoners, pariahs, grand obscenity." Spike summons Elegor in an attempt to make Drusilla sane.

I have other Buffy based names I use as character names as well. Gnarl is the demon that eats Willow's skin in episode 7.03. Illyria is... wait, I'm not sure my parents have seen season 5 of Angel. I'll let that one go for now. :-)

Exploding toads...

I couldn't make this stuff up. Credit to finding this goes to Scott.

Softball begins!

What a night for softball. 38 degrees and a cold frickin breeze. Regardless, we played a good game (except for one inning), losing 22-24. I went 3-4, 2B, BB, 3 R, RBI.

On the injury front, as I always manage to hurt myself, I have:
- a strawberry on my knee from sliding into second
- a sore wrist from bumping it while sliding into third
- a sore hip from running in general
- sore legs from running in the cold

I'm so happy softball has started! :-)

Wanderings

It's been a few days, should have lots of stuff. Let's see if I can recap it all.

Running: I hurt my hip again. My hip is what stopped me from running last year. I got about a mile into a 3 mile run and it started hurting bad. I walked most of the way back to the house. I tried to run at one point and was only able to run for about two minutes. I'm resting, though I have a softball game on Monday. We'll see what happens. If it continues, I might go to the doctor.

Movies: Saw Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Friday night. It was really funny, and true enough to the book. I'd recommend it to fans of the book. The trailers blew though, all were for crappy kids movies.

Wallpaper: Done! Thank god it's over. We still have a few things to do in the room. The previous people were sloppy with the paint, so there's red paint all over the ceiling.

WoW: I've been farming so I can get my epic mount. I got two killer drops, one is a 2 Hand sword that I put on the auction house. The other is a trinket that I'll keep. It changes my appearance so I look like a Horde character. Fun at parties!

That's it for now. I'll try to keep up with this next week.
